Hi, I’m Phil – a UI Engineer during the day, and by night – a serial hobbiest. I guess I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up.
The Serial Hobbiest
When I say serial hobbiest, I mean it – and my wife hates it. It usually means me going out and picking up some new tools to accomplish my interest at the time, then trying to justify it by saying, “I could make some money off of this if I did it more”. Let’s be honest though, its more about the process of doing said thing and learning about it than trying to find a way to replace my day job.
All of my current hobby interests can be found throughout the blog.
Work History
I went to school for web development, and have been doing it professionally since ~2005. I spent a number of years hopping around different marketing agencies in the Pittsburgh area – but ultimately decided that style of work wasn’t for me.
So, in 2015 I made the switch to work for American Eagle Outfitters. I took an opening on their team that helped produce marketing emails and website content management – but then quickly moved on to A/B Testing and Optimizations. Some highlights from my time include, helping lead the migration from Adobe Test and Target to Google Optimize, managing Recommendation widgets across the site, and managing third party script inclusions through Tealium.
You can view more of my work history – but don’t try to send me messages on LinkedIn.
